The Ionian taught us to sail relaxed. The Aegean in July taught us to sail properly.
This is a typical summer day off Mykonos under the Meltemi, the strong northerly that blows across the Aegean for much of the summer: open water, steady wind and short, steep seas. These are conditions we sail in regularly, and the best training ground we know.
If you are planning an Aegean summer, respect the Meltemi: reef early, plan your passages for the mornings, and keep spare days in hand.
